Exhausting through an outside wall generally requires less waterproofing than a roof installation. If you opt for the roof route, it is essential that the duct runs all the way to the outside and terminates beyond the roofline—it should never end inside the attic. When directing the vent through an exterior wall, take care to avoid soffits or other structural obstructions that could block the airflow.
